MB-86N aluminum window

Aluminum · No. 02 · Expansive views

For the big openings.

U-factor from 0.25 (casement) · Glass up to 67.5 mm · Up to about 10 ft tall

When the opening is tall, the glass is heavy and the view is the reason you bought the house, MB-86N is the system we reach for. It's a deeper aluminum frame (77 mm, with an 86 mm sash) built to carry large, heavy triple-glazed and acoustic units, with windows up to about 10 feet tall. It comes in three thermal levels so you can match it to your energy goals.

Strength you can see through

The extra depth and a three-chamber profile give MB-86N the stiffness for floor-to-ceiling glass and large tilt-and-turn sashes. It takes glass up to 67.5 mm thick, enough for triple glazing with laminated acoustic or safety panes. That's the combination hillside view homes around Seattle usually need: big glass that also stops wind and noise.

ST, SI or Aero?

  • ST: standard thermal break. Good value for mild exposures and doors.
  • SI: insulating inserts in the break for better frame performance.
  • Aero: aerogel insulation inserts, the most insulated version.

We'll pick the level that meets your energy-code path without paying for performance you don't need.

Big glass is easy to draw and hard to build. MB-86N is built for it.

One system, windows to doors

The same profiles make fixed, turn and tilt-and-turn windows, a hidden-sash version, terrace doors, a folding door and the MB-86N Pro pivot door. A whole elevation can share one frame line and one color. Dual colors (dark outside, light inside) are standard options.

MB-86N specifications

Why choose it: carries very large, heavy glass · three thermal levels · matches pivot and terrace doors.

Trade-offs: wider sightlines than MB-Slimline · costs more than MB-79N · Aero version adds cost.
